MSU enrollment increases slightly from year ago

Michigan State University’s student enrollment for the 2008-09 academic year is expected to be between 46,500 and 46,700 students, according to preliminary figures released today by the university.

MSU announces new name for Ralph Young Fund: ‘Spartan Fund’

MSU has changed the name of its athletic development fund office from the Ralph Young Fund, named after long-time athletic director and coach Ralph Young, to the Spartan Fund. The move is aimed at increasing visibility of the university’s athletic fund-raising effort to broaden participation in athletics to a wider range of Spartan faithful around the world.

Group to discuss economic impact of half-billion dollar federal research project

A high-powered advisory committee, whose charge is to attract the half-billion dollar Facility for Rare Isotope Beams project to Michigan State University, will hold a public briefing on the MSU campus Tuesday, July 1, to discuss the potential economic impact of the project.

Lashbrooke recommended as interim dean of MSU’s Eli Broad College of Business

 Elvin Lashbrooke, professor emeritus of finance and law, will be recommended to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees for the position of interim dean of the Eli Broad College of Business and Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at MSU, effective July 1.

MSU football facility’s Hall of History to be named in honor of Demmer family

The Michigan State University Board of Trustees voted today to name the Hall of History in the Skandalaris Football Center in honor of the Demmer family, founders of the Lansing-based Demmer Corp. and longtime supporters of MSU athletic programs.
