Timothy and Bernadette Marquez, through The Timothy and Bernadette Marquez Foundation, have committed $7 million to the Michigan State University College of Nursing.

Research led by a Michigan State University astronomer has added to the mystery that are black holes – those stars that have died, collapsed into themselves and now have such a strong gravitational field that not even light can escape from them.
Stephen Zepf and colleagues report they were not able to confirm the presence of a medium-sized black hole in a place previously considered most likely for them to be found – a globular cluster. More »

Consumer confidence in Michigan has dropped to a historic low – and most residents do not believe the economy will rebound anytime soon, according to Michigan State University’s latest State of the State Survey.
The spring 2008 survey finds that 57.3 percent of the state’s residents believe they’re worse off now than they were a year ago – a record high – while only 20.4 percent believe they’re better off, a record low. More »
From 1983 to 2003, nearly 27,000 young boys and men fled civil war in the Republic of Sudan. These “Lost Boys of Sudan” trekked 1,000 miles across Africa only to face starvation, wild animals and disease.
